A peacekeeper who advocates for equality amongst internally displaced persons has been recognized with a prestigious award for gender advocacy. 

As the second from India to receive the award, she dealt with the complexity and deteriorating socio-economic conditions faced by thousands of IDPs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. She earned the trust of conflict-affected communities through consistent engagement.

Major Radhika Sen completed her assignment with the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) where she served for over a year.
