Remarks by Ms. Yolanda Renee King at the General Assembly: 64th Plenary Meeting, 78th Session - International Day of Remembrance of Victims of Slavery and Transatlantic Slave Trade.

Yolanda Renee King, the granddaughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered a message during this year's General Assembly. At just 15 years old, she released a new picture book titled "We Dream A World," paying tribute to her celebrated grandparents, whom she never had the chance to meet. Yolanda has been addressing large crowds for years, including a recent appearance at the March on Washington alongside her parents, Martin Luther King III and Arndrea Waters King.

In December 2019, the trio visited the Ark of Return at the UN Headquarters, where they received a briefing from Maher Nasser. Reflecting on the significance of the memorial, Yolanda stated, "This is an important part of the UN, and people should know the history of this form of slavery. And I think that every sculpture here and that every piece of art and everything that's put in here has a meaning to it. And I think that this reflects their impact, their perspectives.
