Michael Jordan’s 1995-96 season was one of the greatest individual and team campaigns in NBA history. After returning from retirement late in the previous season, Jordan was back in full form, leading the Chicago Bulls to a then-record 72-10 regular-season finish. He won his fourth NBA MVP award, averaging 30.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.2 steals per game, shooting 49.5% from the field while securing his eighth scoring title. His dominance earned him selections to the All-NBA First Team, All-Defensive First Team, and another NBA All-Star appearance.
In the playoffs, Jordan led the Bulls past the Miami Heat (3-0), New York Knicks (4-1), and Orlando Magic (4-0), setting up a showdown with the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1996 NBA Finals. Chicago won the series 4-2, giving Jordan his fourth NBA championship and fourth Finals MVP. The title-clinching Game 6 came on Father’s Day, making it an emotional moment for Jordan as it was his first championship since his father’s passing. This season not only reaffirmed Jordan’s place as the league’s best player but also cemented the 1995-96 Bulls as one of the greatest teams in NBA history.
