With United Nations support, Uruguay works to reduce the barriers that household constraints and gender roles place on women and impact their ability to participate in security and defence institutions. Providing integrated childcare systems or granting scholarships to single-parent households to pay for childcare in case of peacekeeping deployment are some of the measures aimed at making the Uruguayan Armed Forces more inclusive and effective.
